Get a good GPA. SAT score is not given significant weight (if even considered at all).

i recommend having a gpa of over a 3.0 and sat over 1700, by these steps i mean only if u apply early. but if u apply regular, u have to have a good gpa and good sat scores including extra curricular activities. its an awesome college :) u'd love it. but yea regular decision becomes very competitive, so stay careful.

Had a 3.7 GPA with 6 honors (Got A's &B+'s) had a ACT 21. Got in no problem. If you have a low SAT score do the score optional option on your app.
ACT: 21 Female
Keep your HS GPA upJun 08 2011Computer Science
Keep your HS GPA up. GPA requirements keep rising...and many are surprised to get rejected from a school that they thought was their safety. Most schools say that they are up and coming, but Mason keeps being recognized as one of the top up and coming schools in the nation. Reasonable tuition, new sources listing it as a best value, and accolades on its programs are only going to make it more competitive.

SATs - prep, take them, and take them again. I had a 3.4 GPA and I think the SATs and my essay made the difference.

Essay - spend time on it. Seriously. Otherwise, you are just a bland GPA and an SAT and a set of extracurriculars.

Video - Mason allows you to post an admission video. I'm not sure it makes a difference, but it at least shows motivation...and puts a human face on your app.

Visit campus on a tour or for some other event sponsored by admissions - all things being equal, applying after you have visited helps give your app a boost.
